Artist's Comments

I've been trying to collect a lot of Oga Kazuo works over the last two years though I can't seem to get my hands on the Animation Artworks I book. :(

I hope one day to reach the sort of sensitivity and elegance he has in all of his paintings.

Note: For some reason the colors seem to get really whacked up whenever I upload to DA. Anyone have any solution to this?

Edit 2 (1 year later): The color was actually fixed. AHAHAH I forgot to mention that. XD;;

Weathered Well by *Kyomu balances human creation and nature in a way that leaves no noticeable 'footprints.' So often the natural elements are obscured by our hands, even destroyed, that such a simple and elegant piece serves to remind us that sometimes we can co-exist wonderfully--even beautifully. Ya might try the "save for web" option when saving your final. That and make sure you're in RGB mode, not CMYK. The web doesn't like CMYK colors at all.

Hope that helps :):horns:

After seeing your gallery, I'm guessing you know about both the things I mentioned... other than those, I have no clue what could cause the color change.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that it was the previous DA watermarks causing the color alteration. Due to this revelation, they have since been removed.

Thank for the tips though! Much appreciated.

I really love this one. Did you go to school and learn this or are you naturaly a master?

Mmmm I didn't really learn BG painting or CGing in school. I actually studied the Oga Kazuo and Studio Ghibli art books, including some impressionist work at the Orsay in Paris, and tried to apply my knowledge as much as possible. It's like anything else - lots of practice.
