I realize I haven't been on in ages. Work and life keeps me pretty busy, leaving me with little free time. However since I see a lot of the same questions (and problems) popping up in my mail box, I decided it was time to leave a general afk FAQ up so people can read this instead of messaging me.
1) Are you available for commissions?
Unfortunately my schedule and full-time commitment to my company keeps me busy. At this time I am unable to accept any new work proposals. Thank you for your interest! Perhaps sometime down the road.
2) How do you draw _____? What brushes do you use?
I get this question a lot, and to be honest I think this deserves an honest answer.
I learn by observing and through trial and error. I don't give shortcuts because there are no real shortcuts to drawing. There are shortcuts to speed up production and maximize time efficiency, but that is a part of the professional world and shouldn't be a substitute for a lack of understanding any drawing or painting principles. If you have time to ask me that question, then it means you have time to go study. So go study!
I still make errors because I'm always learning new things, and trying to understand new forms. And it's a constant struggle as it should be, because I constantly want to improve.
Brushes won't make you a better artist, your perseverance and dedication to studying will. If you can use a soft brush in conjunction and hard edge brush to create beautiful pictures, then you have it made. If you can do master copies and observe it so hard that your eyes bleed and I can't tell the difference between the master work and your study, then all the more to you.
3) May I use your work for my character/editing/journal/etc?
Unless you paid me for a commission that is posted here in the past, the answer is no. You may NOT.
I realize I was more lenient about this in the past, but after a while one gets fatigued at seeing their own work being used in such a callous, degrading, insulting manner. I do NOT do work for your stock imagery convenience. I do NOT draw so you can pop your characters on any old backgrounds, no matter how old they are. I do NOT do it so you can edit it and somehow call it your own.
Furthermore, if you asked me permission and I wasn't able to respond - that does NOT give you the okay to go ahead and use it. In fact it should be the opposite.
So in a nutshell, no. You may not use it.
